Six months natural & I am loving the journey.
Like any other, its a road that leads to both new discoveries…and frustrations!
I’m constantly looking for different styles to wear my hair that require the least amount of maintenance & quickest amount of time. Right when I started to think no such style existed, I got the bright idea (really, got to tired to twist the back) to part my hair in half & only do bantu twists in the front & just keep the back part brushed.
Before, I was spending up to 2 hours twisting my entire head. This became frustrating because the back doesn’t hold the twists longer than a day, whereas the front twits will last for days! I felt like I was wasting time for nothing. Even though I’m not that great at braiding the back of my hair, I figured I’d better get good at it, because I really enjoy this style, and how I’m not left hogging up the bathroom for hours!
I’m most satisfied w/this because I’m giving the back of my hair the attention it needs (water, leave-in conditioner, oil) not to mention the beautiful wave pattern that I never really knew I had!
One of the biggest lessons I’m learning is that we easily get frustrated w/our hair because we were never really taught HOW to care for our hair, so naturally, it’s simpler to get a perm or a weave/wig. Well, I’m accepting the challenge to learn something I had never known & I feel pretty good about it!
The pic above is a photo set of the first time I tried this style a few days ago.
SUCCESS!!
